Peppermint oil, a natural antispasmodic, relaxes smooth muscles in the intestines and can help reduce the symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) in some individuals
review: I have IBS and ibgard helps me poop! My stools are just like they are should be. I don't poop every morning but no more bloating and gas and no need for the many laxatives with stool softeners that tear up my stomach and give me diarrhea throughout the day.
Nausea, vomiting, or heartburn may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including headache, flushing, mouth irritation/sores, severe stomach/abdominal pain
IBgard® uses site-specific targeting to ensure that the product makes it to the small intestine without being broken down in the stomach. It does this by using individually triple-coated, sustained-release microspheres of Ultramen®, an ultra-purified peppermint oil along with fibre and amino acids from gelatin protein
Like all medical foods, IBgard® does not require a prescription, but it must be used under medical supervision. Only doctors can diagnose IBS. The usual adult dose of IBgard® is 1-2 capsules as needed, up to three times a day, not to exceed 8 capsules per day
The recommended adult dosage is 2 capsules, three times a day. IBGard® should be taken at least 30 to 90 minutes before each meal, with approximately 240mL water. Dosage should not exceed six capsules per day.
IBgard and FDgard should not be taken with antacids, as the combination can dissolve both capsules' coating.
IBgard reduces IBS symptoms within 24 hours.
IBGard slowly releases peppermint oil into the digestive tract, relaxing the bowel and relieving any discomfort you may be experiencing. And unlike Gas-X, it can be taken either as a source of relief or as an everyday preventative medication, before you experience any gassiness.
No GERD effects were seen in the IBgard® arm of this trial. The product's previous market authorization includes use for the overall symptoms of IBS, specifically for improvement or relief of abdominal pain and discomfort, abdominal bloating and distension, and urgency of bowel movement.
According to Epstein, these differences include the following: FDgard contains caraway oil and l-Menthol, the primary component in PO. IBgard releases its microspheres in the small intestine, whereas the FDgard capsule releases in the duodenum, just past the stomach.
